Come and dance, if you love
oooohhh well
lines etched upon a face
just life experience,
strangers, friends, life and death
laughter, sorrow, fear, dreams
and yet I turn to smile
at the longing and the awe
of facing life
and that is why I dance…

‘Rasa’ is a word used to describe the expressions of human emotion used in story dance in India.

Some of us shuffle dance and some trace intricate designs with our feet and some dance in imagination … we all experience emotions,
Dancing and shifting between the full range of energies can be fun and dance is more important than what your feet are doing. We can all join in, very democratic!

In our contempoary world many of us are now all mixed-up-people-of-earth so dancing stories embodies world experience. Sharing story dance from multi cultural world stories new, old and the ‘yet-to-be-told’ increases our shared humanity.
I make and use masks for dancing, its ancient and done by all sorts of cultures and for me masks side step identity, age and ability by transforming what others see and then ‘Rasika’ is experienced (Indian word) when the one who sees experiences emotion there by participating in the dance by their seeing.
Mask dance is intruiging to watch and powerful to dance.

I think clumsy or slow dance can be just as interesting as delicate or fast dancing.
I welcome you to Rasa dance.
